Christmas in July
A new humor piece by managing artistic director, Benjamin Rexroad,
written to spread cheer for the upcoming holiday!
When TJ’s family asked us to bring beer to the family Christmas
party, they sparked a debate about good beer. Mostly, the debate
consisted of me complaining to TJ that his mother’s insistence that
Molson was a “good beer” was wrong.
In fact, most of the beer I’ve seen in his parent’s fridge,
including Molson, a company that annually produces 42.1 million
barrels of beer, is considered an American Adjunct Lager. According to
beeradvocate.com, this means the “focus is less on flavor and more on
mass-production and consumption.” Sounds exactly like the
McDonald’s of beer.

Heads Up Productions presents
The Heads Up Art Circus and Auction
A Fundraising Event
Heads Up Productions presents this one-night only fundraiser to send
Artistic Directors Benjamin Rexroad and TJ Jozsa to the prestigious
Dell’Arte International Professional Training Program. The Heads Up
Art Circus and Auction will be held Wednesday, July 11 from 7-10.
(Come late! Leave early! There will be events all evening long!)
Tickets to the spectacle are $10 or pay-what-you-can and are available
at the door or can be reserved by calling 330.990.5138. The event is
recommended for those 13-years of age or older and will be held at the
Balch Street Theatre (220 S. Balch Street/Akron, OH).
Dell’Arte International is a physical theatre training school located
in Blue Lake, California that focuses on the actor-creator and
encompasses training in acting, voice, movement, and related physical
skills, with specific attention to the areas of mask, commedia
dell'arte, tragedy and clown. For more information visit www.dellarte.com
. Benjamin and TJ are taking this leap westward in order to advance
Heads Up Productions’ research, training methodology and production
techniques.
The Heads Up Art Circus and Auction will feature a cabaret-style
performance area featuring many local acts including: theatrical
performers, a musical improv troupe, spoken word, music and more! Art
from several distinguished Arkonites, including Leandra Drumm, will be
available for bid. Robyn Cooper will emcee the night’s events.
Door prizes will be given away throughout the evening. (Winners must
be present to collect.) Food and nonalcoholic drinks will be available
for purchase. This mind-bending carnival wouldn’t be complete without
a kissing booth, Henna (by the Artful Cricket), balloon artists, a
costume photo booth, chair massage, games and some of the weirdest
Akron sideshows that you never dreamed existed!
