Eve 'n' Stephen will be at Cain Park July 28 at 7 pm. Part of the Fun Folk
Saturdays. (Wild Carrot, Trout Fishing in America and Long Road are the other
groups in the series.)
Married 31 years, we began singing together just about 2 years ago. Originally
we called ourselves a folk/pop duo but we have evolved to the roots/americana
(wink! wink!) genre. Our songlist is very eclectic, with originals when we have
something original to say. Other than that it is usually the message of the song
that motivates us to learn it. We believe that music changes our personal energy
and the energy around us and we are having a great time sharing this new
adventure together.
>From the 2012 Cain Park program
"The seed was planted at a small arts camp in the Berkshire Mountains where
teenage Evie studied modern dance with Woody Guthrie's wife and formed The
Beavers (based on the Weavers) with fellow camper Arlo Guthrie. After careers as
a musician, musical director and teacher, Evie decided she was going to fulfill
a lifelong dream to perform and sing the kind of music that was nearest and
dearest to her heart - folk music. A solo open mic performance at The Barking
Spider followed and shortly thereafter, her husband Stephen, a professional chef
and classically trained musician, joined her performing Roots/Americana
music. They believe music heals and that people singing together is potentially
transformative. Their hero is Pete Seeger who has inspired them to articulate
their social and political feelings, carrying on his tradition of teaching
history through music and teaching people how to sing and be in community
together. "
We will be joined on stage by the 3 D's: David Krauss on harmonica/harp, Dan
Shramo on guitar and banjo and Dale Taylor on upright bass. We are thrilled to
be performing with these fine musicians.
There are 250 seats in the Alma Theater and we personally want to invite you to
be in one of them. Tickets are $15.00
Hope to see you there :):)
