graphic novel, will be performed at the Kathleen Howland Theatre in Canton,
Ohio, on August 24-25th. PLEASE NOTE: Time commitment for this production

the week of opening. No lines need be memorized! If you're looking to
give a performance without giving a lot of time, this show is for you!

PRODUCTION NOTE

This work was written specifically to be produced by the Thinking Man’s
Theatre, which seeks to offer low-cost, low-maintenance performances
without use of sets or more than minimal rehearsals. Actors are to read
their dialogue from scripts; no lines need be memorized. Costuming is
encouraged, but elaborate wardrobe changes are not. The idea is to focus
on the interpretation of the characters and to enlist the audience’s help
in telling the story by using their imagination; hence, the notion of
Thinking Man’s Theatre. Intricate sound cues and lighting effects would be
wrong, as these would distract from the simplicity of the concept.
Blocking should also be minimal. Actors may make entrances and exits just
as in a full-scale production; minor characters may play from side areas to
avoid pulling too much focus from the central figures. Actors should face
front and not aim their lines directly “to” each other unless absolutely
necessary. Likewise, any pertinent action should be only suggested, and
use of props is to be mimed. The overall idea is to present a play “in
concert”, and to tell a story effectively without the trappings of
technical enhancement.
