Weathervane Playhouse announces two classes for Sound Design:
 
Part One:  Digital Mixers for Live Theatre, 2 hours
Please bring a notebook.  Hand-outs will be available.
 
This is a hands-on course for anyone interested in being a sound board operator or sound designer.  You will utilize an amazing set of tools that are built into digital mixing boards.  These tools are designed to overcome typical challenges, like eliminating feedback or making amplified voices and cues sound natural.  You will also learn how to customize Weathervane’s mixer to suit your shows.
 
The first 30 minutes of this workshop will be an overview and demonstration of Weathervane’s digital mixer.  In the remaining time, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on design exercises covering customization of the board for a specific design.

Part Two:  Audio Systems for Live Theatre, 2 hours
Please bring a notebook.  Hand-outs will be available.
 
This course is designed to teach attendees how to design or operate sound in any space.  Using Weathervane’s system as an example for achieving this goal, we will tour the production booth, house, catwalk, backstage and onstage areas.  We will observe the resources available and consider potential challenges.  Attendees will have the opportunity to create a sound scenario with available equipment.  Most importantly, we will cover the questions a sound designer or operator needs to ask in order to accomplish a great design.
 
The first hour of this workshop will be an overview and tour of Weathervane's sound system.  In the second hour, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on design exercises covering various system configurations and board settings.
