‘Clue: The Musical’ Takes to Weathervane’s Mainstage for One-Night-Only Special Event

Popular Board Game Turned Stage Musical

will be the Eleventh Annual Benefit Fundraiser

for Akron’s Community AIDS Network and Weathervane Playhouse

Clue: The Musical brings the internationally popular board game to life on stage – and Weathervane Playhouse will host a one-night-only special-event fundraising performance of the musical based on the Parker Brothers game.

On Monday, Aug. 20, 2012, such memorable characters as Colonel Mustard, Mrs. Peacock, Professor Plum and Miss Scarlett will take to the stage for the eleventh annual fundraising benefit to support Akron’s Community AIDS Network and Weathervane Playhouse. The performance time is 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $21 each. Clue: The Musical will be presented in a semi-staged concert version.

The stage version of the board game is now a fun-filled musical which brings the world's best-known suspects to life and invites the audience to help solve the mystery: Who killed Mr. Boddy, in what room and with what weapon?

The audience receives forms to help them deduce the solution from clues given throughout the festive evening. Three audience members choose from cards representing the potential murderers, weapons and rooms – and there are 216 possible solutions! Comic antics, witty lyrics and a beguiling musical score make this murder investigation a real crowd pleaser! And even after the culprit confesses a surprise twist will delight the audience!
Directed by Curt Arnold – with music direction by Butch Marshall and choreography by Allison Butler – Clue: The Musical features a book by Peter DiPietro, music by Wayne Barker, Galen Blum and Vinnie Martucci, lyrics by Tom Chiodo, and is presented with the cooperation of Samuel French, Inc.

Since 2002, Cleveland theater artists Curt Arnold and Jenniver Sparano have collaborated to produce an annual benefit performance and have staged each show at both Weathervane Playhouse and at a Cleveland-area theater. In addition to this year’s Aug. 20 performance at Weathervane Playhouse in Akron, Clue: The Musical will also be presented at the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood on Monday, Aug. 27, with proceeds to benefit the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland.
