Please join us at the Waterloo Ballroom Swing Dance on Saturday, August 25th as we welcome a unique group of musicians from Georgia who are ready to entertain you for your listening and dancing pleasure. 1920s attire is highly encouraged, but not a necessity.

The Hookers are a band of ten musicians who supply Crimmins with upright bass, tuba, soprano saxophone, clarinet, and lap steel - an unlikely combination of instruments, but a harmoniously solid one nonetheless. Together this coterie transports their

"The Musical Styling of Blair Crimmins & The Hookers is an unusual product in today's music scene. It's one of the few albums that doesn't quite fit into any particular genre. The very first note immediately sends the listener back to a 1920s Vaudeville theatre, where Blair Crimmins intoxicates an audience with his smooth voice and The Hookers support him with flawlessly appropriate musical accompaniment. The lyrics are narrative and witty, intelligent and entertaining, and Crimmins' energy is so engaging that it's easy to overlook the outlier quality of this album. You'll find yourself wanting more tawdry jazz just like it. Crimmins' accompanies himself on a wide range of instruments: piano, guitar, tenor banjo, ukulele, accordion, organ, vibraphone, trash, and percussion.

From 8-9pm there will be some simple instruction by Dani Dowler and friends on the basics of the Charleston and some fabulous and fun side by side Charleston moves.

The Waterloo Ballroom at the Slovenian Workmen's Home is located in the very artsy and lively Collinwood neighborhood. The address is 15335 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, Ohio 44110. The Slovenian not only has a beautiful ballroom; they also have a well stocked bar. They have alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks of all kinds for sale--including a very special Slovenian beer- Lasko! There will also be some sweet and savory snacks for sale in the bar as well.

There are TWO parking lots to the right of the ballroom and there is also some street parking as well. However, if you can carpool with friends that would be recommended. We also have a security guard who keeps an eye on the hall and both parking lots.

No need to make reservations or buy tickets in advance. The event is $12 per person. Students and seniors with a valid ID pay only $10 per person.
