We are currently seeking TEACHING ARTISTS who;

• Have experience working with students from various socio-economic
backgrounds, including low performing and at-risk students.
• Have a passion for theater and are comfortable using creative writing and
some movement to teach children.
• Have a passion for working with children in grades 1-8.
• Believes that every child is capable of learning and is committed to the
process.
• Can remain flexible when working in a school environment with the many
day to day changes.
• Has good classroom management skills and understands classroom dynamics.
• Is able to quickly adjust their routine to meet the needs of their
students.
• Has theatre experience, but not necessarily as a professional.
• Is able to commit to part-time work Monday-Friday, at least 2 days per
week, if not more for approximately 8 weeks in the Fall, Winter or Spring
of the school year.
• Can work with the school staff to schedule performance dates, change room
assignments and contact parents or school for discipline concerns.
• Has dependable transportation.
• Is able to pass a criminal background check.
• Has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to effectively communicate
with DramaSmarts staff, parents and school administrators.

Teaching opportunities will be available throughout the east side of
Cleveland beginning in late September, early October. TEACHING ARTIST must
be able to work between the hours of 3:15 and 4:30 for a 45-minute teaching
lesson each day.

TEACHING ARTIST are contracted on an hourly basis at a rate of $40 per hour
and usually work from 4-8 hours per month. Payment is received at the end
of each month.

Requirements:
• Have at least 2 or more years of experience working with school-aged
children as a classroom teacher or TEACHING ARTIST teaching drama or dance.
• Applicants must be available to attend an unpaid 5-day training in early
August in Cleveland, OH and be able to commit to a consecutive 8-week class
for two days weekly during the after school hours with no pending conflicts.
• Must be available for paid bi-weekly meetings with DramaSmarts staff.
• Must be able to use the library and their own resource database to
supplement the curriculum.
• Must be punctual with submitting attendance on a weekly basis and time
sheets on a monthly basis.
