Roles available:

ALJANA: Kind, charismatic and firm. Sara’s African-American nanny during her childhood in Africa. Also Pasco’s mother. Sara names the doll she takes to London as her spirit guide after Aljana.

BECKY: A scrawny orphan and scullery maid working at the school where Sara lives. Becomes Sara’s first friend at the school but is picked on by the other girls. Cockney accent.

CAPTAIN CREWE: Explorer and adventurer. Sensitive, handsome, courageous, and deeply ethical. He adores his daughter and is the idealized single father.

ERMENGARDE: The first of the girls to befriend Sara besides Becky. Sweet, simple, chubby, and very sensitive. Used to be the one picked on until Becky arrived.

JAMES: Helps maintain the girls school

JESSIE & NORA: Young girls at the boarding school.

LAVINIA: The ring leader of the girls who dislike Sara. Nasty, condescending, calculating, witty, and funny.

LOTTIE: Spoiled, charming, and funny. Like Ermengarde, Lottie soon befriends Sara and Becky.

MISS AMELIA: Miss Minchin’s younger, kinder sister. Teacher, easily flustered, perhaps a bit dim, but with a good heart. Secretly does nice things to help the girls out.

MISS MINCHIN: Head of the exclusive girls, domineering and unyielding. Comedic skills.

PASKO: Appealing, loyal and intelligent African-American male. Though he is Captain Crewe’s guide and confidant, he views the Captain as somewhat of a father figure.

QUEEN VICTORIA: Deft, dry sense of humor. Charming and kind, but stately.

SARA CREWE: Intelligent, witty, sensitive, and pretty. Grace Kelly at age 12. Raised as an only child with privilege in a British colony in Africa, Sara at first finds herself out of place with the people and customs of the boarding school she is sent to in London. Strong, adventurous spirit. British accent.

COMPANY: PASSENGERS, AFRICANS, DANCERS, MERCHANTS, UMBRELLA MAN, DJEMBE DRUMMER, ORPHANS AT MISS MINCHINS
