ABOUT THE PLAY
Karamu alum and literary genius Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity (based on the
Gospel of St. Luke) was first produced Off-Broadway in 1961. Under Hughes’ pen,
this piece is part re-enactment of the birth of Jesus, part church service, and
part Christmas concert. Composed entirely of gospel versions of traditional
carols and contemporary music infused with energetic and exciting dance
sequences.

There will be 4-6 weeks of rehearsals. Rehearsals will be selected (based on
availability of the cast) on evenings, and weekends, 3 - 6 times per week.
COMPENSATION:Non-AEA actors will receive a stipend.
