Family Drum Class presented by Verb Ballets offered by Awo Fasi Irunsewe/Linda Thomas Jones
This workshop is intended to demonstrate a sense of community and to encourage unity within the family structure. When we play drums together there is a great deal of laughter, sharing, over coming fears and celebrating success. Please bring your own drums (if you have them) or a drum will be provided for you. 
 
When: Saturday, October 27, 2012 - 2:00-3:00pm

Cost: $10/Adult $5/Child (17 and younger)

Class is open to participants 7 years old and up. NO experience necessary. 
 
Linda Thomas - Jones is "The Drum Woman," an accomplished musical director and teacher of more than 40 years and one of the nation's foremost female African percussionists. Mama Fasi's journey began with a major in fine arts at Case Western Reserve University, and various performance arts centers in the greater Cleveland area, New York City, and abroad. She received a Fulbright Fellowship from the Gestalt Institute to study dance and drumming in Ghana, West Africa. Today, she is a music educator with the Cuyahoga Board of Mental Retardation and Disabilities and provides teacher training for Ohio music educators and presented musical workshops and school assemblies through the Ohio Arts Council. 
 
Verb Ballets Master Classes and Workshops are a part of Verb's, a season-long effort to engage, educate and expose youth of varying ages to the power and beauty of contemporary dance, ultimately fostering a love of dance for lifelong patrons.
