LEGANDARY MUSICAL FOLLIES COMING TO NORTHEAST OHIO

Considered by many to be the greatest musical ever created, Follies will be produced by the Baldwin Wallace University Department of Theatre and Dance for ten spectacular performances.
Using the musical theatre as a metaphor for the collapse of American innocence and naiveté in the post-Kennedy years, Follies premiered on Broadway in 1971 and ran for 522 performances. With book by James Goldman and Music and Lyrics by the incomparable Stephen Sondheim, the production features a surreal, sophisticated, and heart wrenching experience that is epic in scope and writing talent. Since its original debut over 40 years ago Follies has been staged all over the world and was revived on Broadway most recently in 2011.

On Saturday November 10th, audience members will also have the exciting opportunity to hear a pre-show talk and participate in a post-show discussion given by Ted Chapin, the President and Executive Director of Rogers & Hammerstein and the author of Everything Was Possible: The Birth of the Musical "Follies". Mr. Chapin, who seldom attends off Broadway productions of the musical, will be joined by Bill Rudman, the founder and co-Director of the Musical Theatre Project and writer and host of the radio program "Footlight Parade: Sounds of the American Musical."
The creative team for Follies includes Victoria Bussert, Director; Greogry Danials, Choreographer; Steven Gross, Music Director; Charlotte Yetman, Costume Designer; Richard Ingraham, Sound Designer, and a scenic design concept by Jeff Herrmann. In a tribute to BW's rich performance history, seven faculty members--Joanne Uniatowski, Scott Plate, Timothy Mussard, Jack Winget, Nanette Canfield, Gregory Daniels and Sara Whale, will appear in cameo roles alongside a cast of 41 students.

The musical event will run at the Kleist Center for Art and Drama in Berea, November 8-11th and 15-18th. Special guests Mr. Ted Chapin and Mr. Bill Rudman will present the pre-show talk and post-show discussion for one night only on November 10th. Tickets are limited.
