There Is a Happiness That Morning Is

female 40 - 50, a poetry professor
male 35 - 45, a poetry teacher
male 55 - 75, president of the college

Equity agreements may be considered for this production


About the play...
After engaging in an extreme display of public affection on the lawn of a college campus, two professors of William Blake must apologize or justify their behavior to students and college administration. Each use Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience in their lectures, but they go in opposite directions, threatening their 20 year relationship and their jobs. Associate Artistic Director Beth Wood (Antebellum, Fever/Dream) directs this comedy in rhymed verse about the difficulties and miracles of love.


About the timing...

Rehearsals will begin the first week of April. Performances are May 9th - 25th; Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays.

Auditions...
Sunday 11/18: 5-8p
Monday 11/19: 7-10p

Auditions are by appointment only and will be scheduled in 10 minute increments. Auditioners should prepare a two minute dramatic monologue in rhymed verse. The piece should be from Shakespeare's canon or a classical poem and performed without an accent.
