“Psycho” expert to speak at Lakeland Dec. 13

KIRTLAND, Ohio – November 19, 2012 – With a new film about Alfred
Hitchcock opening up in the coming weeks, Lakeland Community College’s
resident “Psycho” expert is ready to share his insight about the influence
of the filmmaker’s work on Hollywood movies ever since.

Lakeland film and English Professor, Phil Skerry Ph.D., will hold a free
presentation about the cult status of Alfred Hitchcock and his films on
Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Lakeland Library, 7700 Clocktower Drive,
Kirtland, 44094, C Building, third floor. Classes, groups and individuals
are encouraged to attend. Free public parking is available.

Skerry is the author of the only book to be written about one scene from a
movie. "The Shower Scene in Hitchcock's Psycho: Creating Cinematic
Suspense And Terror" (Studies in the History and Criticism of Film),
examines the importance of "Psycho’s" shower scene as a defining moment in
the cinematic horror genre.

Skerry is professor emeritus of English at Lakeland Community College.
