Kent State Stark Concert Band to share the stage with fourth-grade guest vocalist



Kent State University at Stark's Music Department presents a concert of traditional marches, big band music and holiday favorites performed by the Kent State Stark Concert Band on Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent State Stark Fine Arts Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.



The concert is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required and may be obtained by calling the Kent State Stark Theatre Box Office at 330-244-3348, Monday through Friday, from 1 to 5 p.m.



The award-winning ensemble is comprised of more than 70 performers, including talented high school and college students, faculty and community members. The Kent State Stark Concert Band, established in 1985, is currently under the direction of Conductor Richard Kibler, a music administrator/band director at Lake Local Schools.



The fall program will include orchestral selections, in addition to two choices that will be performed with vocal accompaniment. Special guest vocalist, Zachary Charlick, will join the band for Pie Jesu from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem Mass. Charlick, a fourth-grader at Strausser Elementary in Jackson Township, has held stage roles at the Players Guild Theatre, with Carnation City Players, at the Jackson School for the Arts Summer Camp and Jackson Community Theater.



The performance will conclude with A Christmas Festival, a medley of holiday classics, including Joy to the World, Deck the Halls, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night and others.
