Whether you have an "Esq." after your name, OR NOT, is irrelevant here. The appeal to friends, colleagues, and associates of Mr. Kelly from his defense associates for funds was a valid use of this NEOHIOPAL forum. As a member of the Cleveland theatre community, it is Mr. Kelly's friends' right to appeal to us for support of his legal defense. I would also remind you here that the nature of the alleged charges against him are IRRELEVANT here. 
 
In the American system, you are innocent until proven guilty. With that in mind, you do not have to remind us that these charges have any bearing on the willingness of Kelly's friends to support him or not. That very legal issue is to be decided in a court of law, and NOT here on this forum. So your unwelcome implications come at a time when you are presumably reminding us of our fair and equitable responsibilities. I am quite sure we can make that decision ourselves. 
 
IF, as  Martin Friedman reminded you, there are members of the Cleveland theatre community who do NOT wish to support Mr. Kelly's defense fund, that is their sovereign right to decide on their own. If you don't like the TV program, Turn it OFF!
 
I am quite sure Mr. Fred Sternfeld, the administrator of NEOHIOPAL does not take any public, or legal, stand on this issue, and only offers the forum as a vehicle for its members to be informed of the Kelly Defense Fund. I myself am not aware of any 'insular' or 'one-sided' efforts of the community in Mr. Kelly's regard. Those that wish to support him will do so, and those that do not, will not. I might suggest here, to those that contemplate supporting Mr. Kelly, that you do so without any further 'politicking' in this regard on this forum. Doing so does allow for reciprocal 'politicking' to those who choose NOT to support him. This is a LEGAL issue, NOT to be decided here, Please keep that in mind when you post further regarding Mr. Kelly.

I do not want to make a statement regarding Mr. Kelly's assumed innocence, or supposed guilt in regards to this case. I am, however, asking you, the "powers that be" associated with the NEOhioPal to remember that there are TWO sides associated with any and all legal cases. I also would ask you to remember that any and all persons NOT associated with finding Mr. Kelly innocent may also be represented within the Cleveland Theater Community, and to, therefore, remember your obligations to them to remain impartial and unbiased. 
I respect, admire and am proud to be a member of the Cleveland (Ohio) theater community. I feel very fortunate to be able to create and artistically express myself in an environment that is both entirely accepting, and unbelievably encompassing. However, it discourages me, and perhaps other not quite so established, and certainly not so "beloved" within the community, to see movements within the community that are so entirely insular and completely one-sided. 
Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this. Wishing everyone with an artistic brain, and a strange and different point of view a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.

I don't know Mr. Kelly. I've never seen him perform, I wouldn't even know him if he walked up to me on the street and said hello. I have absolutely zero interest in him or his "troubles," other than taking note like anyone might when reading this kind of story in the newspaper. 

This list and the service Mr. Sternfeld provides is a wonderful thing, and I think using it in this manner, especially considering the nature of the allegations - is a terrible, terrible idea. Guilty, Not Guilty - I don't really care, aside from a civic interest in seeing justice done, however it ends up. 

But I think this is going to open a Pandora's Box that really should be left closed.
