[NEohioPAL] "A Behanding in Spokane" opens THIS FRIDAY at none too fragile

None Too Fragile Theater is excited to announce the opening of the second season at their theater located within Pub Bricco in Akron’s Merriman Valley with A Behanding in Spokane.  In this darkly comical work from the acclaimed playwright Martin McDonagh, the mysterious gun-toting Carmichael has been searching for his missing left hand for decades. Enter two bickering lovebirds with a hand to sell, and a hotel clerk with an aversion to gunfire, and soon life and death are up for grabs. A Behanding in Spokane turns over American daily existence, exposing the obsessions, prejudices, madness, horrors, and above all, the absurdities that crawl beneath it.

A Behanding in Spokane, McDonagh’s first play set in America, received its World premiere on Broadway in 2010 starring Christopher Walken as Carmichael.  For their version, the age of the character was changed to match the age of the actor, now in his middle 60s.

A Behanding in Spokane features Michael Regnier, Nick Yurick, Kelly Strand, and Brian Kenneth Armour. The Sean Derry directed play opens on Friday, February 8, 2013 and runs through Saturday March 9, 2013.  Show times are Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 pm.  There is one Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm on February 17, 2013 and one Monday evening performance at 7:30 pm on February 18, 2013. We are looking forward to opening our full schedule of 2013 shows with A Behanding in Spokane, by Martin McDonagh, a dark-comedy which should give our patrons a couple of needed laughs after the serious subject matter we worked through with our shows last year.”

“Of course,” Derry continued, “it wouldn’t be a None Too Fragile production without at least some semblance of subject-matter for our patrons to discuss, and this show will certainly provide for that.  But, you’ll have to see the show to see what I’m referring to.”
