[NEohioPAL] Casting Call for student short film

[Nate Merritt]

Nate Merritt is a junior communication arts-film and women's studies double 
major at Malone University. His debut film, "Welcome to the Mind of 
Calpurnia Jones" was successfully funded on kickstarter and premiered at the Open Frame Film Festival last April. He would love you to help with his upcoming film, "It's a one time thing (it just happens... a lot)"
"It's a one time thing (it just happens... a lot)"is a dialogue driven dramedy (in the vein of mumblecore) that seeks to 
explore milennial anxiety and self-destructive behaviours. Ellie Foreman is a twenty-three year old woman. "She is in a really weird place right now." In the course of this short film she tries to deal with writer's 
block, losing her job, a missed period, a one-night stand who won't 
leave her alone, and falling in love with her friend with benefits. 
 

Because of our lack of budget, this is a passion project and the acting will be on a pro-bono basis. Of course, food will be provided on-set and anyone acting will be allowed to use footage for their reel. Filming will take place in the Canton area in March. We will gladly send a copy of the 
script upon request, and film reels will be accepted in place of 
auditions. 


The film will be submitted to the Malone University Open Frame Film 
Festival, which will take place at the Canton Palace Theatre later this 
spring.

Cast:
ELLIE FOREMAN, 23 years old, is a recent college graduate. She is mildly overweight (but she is very comfortable with her body) and has short
 mousy brown hair and brown eyes. She is a chain smoker and a heavy 
drinker. She is self-involved and self-destructive.
ROSEMARY DEGAS, mid-twenties, is Ellie's waifish roommate and best friend. She has been described as an "ethereal Annie Hall." She is the responsible adult to Ellie's immature "screw-up." Ellie tends to only talk to Rosemary about her own problems.
DAN GREENE, 24-26, is Ellie's friend with benefits (with whom she might be in love). He is a lanky Jewish musician and slacker. Despite letting Ellie spend the night on occasion, he insists that their relationship is "no strings attached."
JOEL AARONS, 24-26, is a former one night stand of Ellie's who comes back 
into her life when she and Rosemary pick him up off the side of the 
road. He has dirty blonde hair and is rarely seen without a hat.

Please note: there is adult language and sexually suggestive scenes in the script. In the mind of the director, the roles of Ellie and Dan would require partial nudity but if you are uncomfortable with the idea of that don't hesitate to contact us anyway. We would never want to turn away an actor simply because (s)he is uncomfortable with nudity nor would we want to make anyone do anything that they are uncomfortable with.
