AUDITIONS

The Fantasticks

Produced by Brecksville Little Theatre

Directed by Frank Wilson, Musical Director: Gail Wirick, Producers:  Ruth
Wheaton and Bob Rauch.

 

Audition Dates:  Feb. 17 and Feb 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Blossom Hill School, Bldg. 3.

Audition Instructions:
Prepare a song and bring sheet music for piano accompaniment.  You may also
be taught a brief music selection from the show.  
Actors need not prepare a monologue, as they will be asked to read from the
script.
Those auditioning for the part of the Mute should prepare a pantomime of no
longer than one minute.  

 

Performance Dates:  April 19 through May 11 (weekends)

 


Character Breakdown


THE ACTOR (HENRY) 

An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare. 
Male, 50-70 yrs old 
Speaking Role 


THE BOY (MATT) 

An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright
guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a
false bravado. 
Male, 18-25 yrs old 
Range: A2 - G4 


THE BOY'S FATHER (HUCKLEBEE) 

A former boisterous navy man and meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with
Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love. 
Male, 40-60 yrs old 
Range: A2 - F#4 


THE GIRL (LUISA) 

A button-maker's young and pretty daughter, she is a romantic idealist who
falls in love with Matt. She is naive, yet honest and tender. 
Female, 15-25 yrs old 
Range: B3 - B5 


THE GIRL'S FATHER (BELLOMY)

A fastidious button-maker and also a picky gardener who fakes a fight with
Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together. 
Male, 40-60 yrs old 
Range: A2 - F#4 


THE MAN WHO DIES (MORTIMER)

Henry's goofy sidekick and another former actor who specializes in stage
deaths. A commedia clown, his world is the stage and he does not live in
reality. 
Male, 30-50 yrs old 
Speaking Role 


THE MUTE 

A speechless presence who watches, acts as the wall, and deals with props;
the "invisible" stage assistant. Should be able to easily assist in the
story or fade into the background unnoticed. 
Male or Female, 20-50 yrs old 
Pantomime Role 


THE NARRATOR (EL GALLO) 

A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is
warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments.
He aids the performers in orchestrating the story. 
Male, 30-50 yrs old 
Range: Ab2 - G4
