DOBAMA THEATRE Announces Auditions for
THE LYONS by Nicky Silver, directed by Nathan Motta

Audition Dates/Times: 

Monday, Feb. 25th, 7pm - 10 pm by appointment

 

AT: Dobama Theatre 2340 Lee Rd., Cleveland Heights, OH 44118

 

A NURSE, African-American woman, age range 30-60                      

BRIAN, 23-38, a very attractive real estate broker.

 

*All other roles have been cast

 

 

Production dates: April 19, 2013 to May 12, 2013. Preview date: April 18,
2013

 

Rehearsals begin March 23, 2013

 

Audition:  Sides will be sent via email upon scheduling an audition.

AEA contracts:  There are no AEA Contracts available for these two roles.
Non-AEA Contracts will pay $450 each.

THE LYONS 

Play synopsis:  Ben Lyons is in a hospital where he is dying from cancer.
His family gathers around him. They are his wife, Rita, and grown children,
Curtis Lyons and Lisa Lyons. Also present is his nurse. Ben is no longer
constrained by manners and says whatever he wishes, including expletives.
Rita, trapped in a 40-year loveless marriage, now thinks of the future
without Ben and plans to re-decorate. Lisa is an alcoholic, who has left an
abusive marriage; Curtis, homosexual, has had little to do with his father,
who is homophobic. In a getaway from the hospital, Curtis looks at an
apartment with the help of an actor moonlighting as a real estate agent.
This quick-paced, banter-filled, funny play about a Jewish family dealing
with their lives at a major crossroads has many interesting twists and
turns.
