It is the 1970s, a time when an invisible but no less real line divides a
white from a black neighborhood. On their side of this line, Shins and
Tony, white high-school students, live and breathe basketball. Basketball
scholarships could be their ticket into college. The same is true for
Sunny, a black player who one day inexplicably shows up at the outdoor
court where Shins and Tony spend countless hours perfecting their game. By
crossing the line, Sunny turns the world of Shins and Tony upside down. But
in trying to work through their differences, the three boys suffer terrible
consequences, which will impact their respective lifetimes.

After a life of sin, Cole the Jazz-man Barbarian feels dried up, sick of
the music, the fans, and the attention. Before leaving town, he makes
half-hearted attempts to make good on wrongdoings he’s done to others,
while meeting the one woman who might actually understand. Throughout this,
Cole wonders why his shoulder hurts and cicadas suddenly find him so
interesting… Inspired by Cocopelli folklore and the early work and life of
Gustav Flaubert, Cocopelli explores an artist at war with himself,
oblivious to all the good his art has given others.
