Support Women Artists Now 	 				  	  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WHAT?  SWAN Day CLE – 2013

WHAT’S THAT?  SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day is an international holiday celebrating women playwrights.  Over its first 5 years, it was observed in 23 countries with over 900 events.  This is Cleveland's inaugural celebration!

HOW?		Staged Readings of 8 short plays by women playwrights

WHY ONLY WOMEN PLAYWRIGHTS?  A mere 1/5 of the plays produced in America are written by women.  Only 1/4 of the roles are women's roles.  Yet, more than half of theater artists are women, so we're helping to even those odds.  

WHEN?	Saturday, March 30 2013 at 2pm and 8pm

WHERE?	2pm at Convergence Continuum Theatre, 2438 Scranton Road, Tremont
		8pm at Ensemble Theatre, 2843 Washington Boulevard, Cleveland Heights

HOW MUCH?	$5 at the doors or via Indiegogo

WHAT'S THE MONEY FOR?  Every artist involved in SWAN Day celebrations WILL BE PAID.  Playwrights, directors, actors.  And they’ll all be paid the same amount, whether or not they belong to a union.  Any surplus will seed next year’s celebration in even more local theaters.

WomenArts, SWAN Day’s founder, is a non-profit arts service organization dedicated to helping women in the performing arts get the resources they need to do their creative work.
