Calling all Actors! Straw Hat Theatre Auditions are coming soon!

 

The Ashtabula Arts Center is pleased to announce that the auditions for the 2013 Straw Hat Theatre season will be held on March 24 and 25. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or new to treading the boards, the Ashtabula Arts Center wants you! The 2013 lineup for the summer at Straw Hat Theatre includes A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, running June 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22; Disney's Little Mermaid Jr., running June 28, 29, 30 and July 4, 5, 6; Legally Blonde, running July 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27; and The Wiz, running August 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17.

 

Please note that the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde has been pre-cast. All other roles are open.

 

For ages 13 and under, open auditions will be held Sat. March 23 from 10 - 11:30 a.m. and Sun., March 24 from 4 - 5:30 p.m.  Auditions are first come first served.

 

For ages 14 and over, each auditioner will be required to make an audition appointment. Please call (440) 964-3396 to make an appointment. Please be aware that you may be asked to stay for a dance call depending on which show or shows you are auditioning for.

Auditioners should come prepared with:

 

  a.. A short cut of a song (32 bars) in the musical theatre style (sheet music is highly suggested)
  b.. A short monologue (not to exceed one minute)
  c.. A list of calendar conflicts for the directors 
  d.. Dance attire for the dance call
