CAMEO returns to the Medina Performing Arts Center this
summer to produce two musicals on the Main Stage.  The family classic, The Wizard of Oz, will feature a large cast of all ages and is
being directed by Chris Rusen with musical direction by Andrew Lipian and
Medina native Zack Pytel.  The Wizard of Ozwill run July 19, 20,
25-27 at 7:30 pm and July 21 and 28 at 2 pm.

For its second and more intimate production, Rachel Spetrino
returns to direct Jason Robert Brown’s contemporary musical, Songs for a New World.  Musical direction will be by Tom Bonezzi.  Songs
for a New World will be performed August 9, 10, 16, 17 at 7:30 pm and
August 18 and 25 at 2 pm.

After the successful production of two musicals in 2012,
MCAF President and CAMEO Chair Michael Sferro is particularly excited about
this year’s schedule.  “Both productions
will have a contemporary flair.  Wizard of Oz will honor the timeless
tradition of the show that everyone loves, but will feature an updated
production design.  Songs for a New World will be staged in an innovative way with the
audience sitting literally on the stage with the actors.”

CAMEO is the resident artist of the Medina Performing Arts
Center and exists to bring affordable, professional-level theatre to Medina
audiences while inviting them to participate in the entire experience of
producing a major musical.  Now in its 11th year of existence, CAMEO is a product of a partnership with the Medina
Community Arts Foundation (MCAF) and the Medina City Schools.  Past CAMEO productions such as Music Man, Annie, King and I, Oklahoma, Thoroughly Modern Millie, andLittle Women have been acclaimed for
their stunning sets, lighting and professional-level talent.
