SWAN Day CLE – 2013 – COUNTDOWN TO MARCH 30’ – the PLAYS!

On March 30, 2013, Cleveland’s inaugural celebration of the International Holiday, Support Women Artists Now Day!  Join Mary Faktor, Lydia Hall, Natalie Green, Lauren Sturdivant, and Deborah Magid for staged readings of 8 very diverse short plays.

The plays were chosen from 143 international submissions by a committee of writers and theater professionals.  They represent a wide variety of women’s experience. 

A woman has a frank discussion with her, shall we say, private parts, which do indeed have their own voice  
Duty to country and duty to the planet cause struggle for an Army lieutenant
Four women reveal their comically obsessive relationships with food  
Fear of a nurse’s scorn challenges a lesbian’s fear of breast cancer
Self-help is a homeless woman’s technique for helping herself to another’s life
Adult sisters meet for the first time, with surprising results 
An unexpected set of standards changes a student’s preconceived notions
The Wolf, Granny, and Little Red come to their own depraved, transformational conclusions
SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day is an international holiday celebrating women playwrights.  Over its first 5 years, it was observed in 23 countries with over 900 events.  This is Cleveland's inaugural celebration!  With Lydia Hall, Mary Faktor, Stuart Hoffman, 


WHAT:  Eight short plays directed and read by local artists, in honor of 
	SWAN Day CLE 2013 and the worldwide celebration

WHEN:  March 30, 2013
              2pm at convergence-continuum at the Limnis, 2438 Scranton Road, Tremont
              8pm at Ensemble Theatre, 2843 Washington Boulevard, Cleveland Heights

TICKETS: $5 at the doors / CONTRIBUTIONS over $25 are tax-deductible
