for pARTy in the Square

Cleveland Public Theatre is seeking proposals for an interactive art installation to be presented as part of pARTy in the Square.

On Saturday, June 8th, the Gordon Square Arts District & CPT will welcome thousands of guests to discover this revitalized neighborhood and introduce them to the vibrant artistic scene. This family-friendly event will feature music, theatre and visual art throughout the neighborhood at multiple venues.

CPT is seeking proposals for a family-friendly, interactive art installation in our century old church building. Guests visiting the installation will have the opportunity to engage in an artistic activity that will in some way add to the overall installation. This activity will be appropriate for all ages.

Artists interested in submitting a proposal for this unique opportunity should carefully review the details in this RFP and complete the application below.

The selected artist will be responsible for the following:
Creation of installation
Set up in CPT's church space
Staffing needed for the venue during the event and set up of installation
Supplies and materials

CPT will provide the following:
$1,250 inclusive fee paid to the selected artist to cover artist stipend and all material/staffing costs associated with the installation.
Minimal technical support for setting up the space (not to exceed 4 hours)

Who will be selected...
Has the artist demonstrated the ability to implement/produce the proposed work? We are looking for an artist with interactive installation experience. We want to feel confident that the artist/group has a clear understanding of what it takes to pull off this type of installation.

All artistic enterprises require risk and there are no guarantees. However, it's important to demonstrate a level of artistic excellence and an understanding of artistry. This might be demonstrated in a work sample, resume of artist, or in a project summary.

Is the work adventurous? CPT has a history of producing work that no one else in town will produce because it is somehow "outside the box." The work doesn't need to be experimental or weird (though that is fine too), but it does need to be relevant and compelling. That being said, this is a family-friendly event and the chosen installation will be interesting and appropriate for all ages.
