The Cleveland Chinese Music Ensemble, Northeast Ohio's traditional Chinese orchestra, presents a new program of Chinese music based on the themes of springtime and flowers.

The ensemble's instruments include dizi and xiao (bamboo flutes), suona (oboe), sheng (mouth organ), erhu (fiddle), gaohu (Cantonese fiddle), yehu (coconut fiddle), dahu (bass fiddle), pipa (pear-shaped lute), yueqin (moon lute), guzheng (zither), drums, gongs, and other percussion.

The program will also feature a reading (in Chinese as well as English translation) of a Tang Dynasty poem by Liu Yuxi, entitled "Song of the Hundred Flowers" (百花行).

Following the performance, the audience will be invited to sample several varieties of fine Chinese tea.

This performance is part of the tenth season of the United Methodist Church of Macedonia's Sanctuary Festival Series. For more information, call the church office at (330) 467-3169.
