Seeking a Musical Director for a production of
Gilbert and Sullivan's
"The Pirates of Penzance"

As part of our 25th Anniversary Season of presenting Community
Theatre in Medina County, Brunswick ACT will be presenting a large-
scale, summer musical mainstage production, Gilbert and Sullivan's
"The Pirates of Penzance." The artistic goal is to present a fast-
paced, bright, modern version suitable for summer theatre American
family audiences. (Somewhat more in the style of the 1980's Papp
revival than 1870's operatic style.)

The show will be held in the multi-million-dollar James J. Hayas
Performing Arts Center. Built in 2001 on the Brunswick City Schools
Educational Campus at I-71 and Route 303, this state-of-the-art
facility has hosted many community events, and offers a full fly
system, 500+ square foot orchestra pit, a dedicated scene shop and
dressing rooms, and seating for nearly 1,000 patrons.

NOTE: Show Dates have CHANGED.
Performance dates are July 19/20/21, with a *possible* additional
evening & Matinee performance the weekend before or after. This is
due to some upgrades and maintenance being done in the facility over
the summer. The schedule will become clear once school lets out in
June.

There will be a stipend for this position. Candidates would be
expected to attend production meetings of the creative team, assist
with auditions (late May), run and manage a vocal
rehearsal with a large cast of varying ages and talent levels, and
assist in recruiting pit orchestra (some limited additional stipends
are expected to be available for pit players).

This production will also require a (stipended) rehearsal accompanist
who may double as a pit keyboardist and a performance conductor, and
these additional duties may be assumed by the musical director if
desired.

Interested candidates should contact the production coordinator,
Shawn Skeabeck, at 216-469-9790. You may also send a brief resume
(or list of local productions & organizations you've worked in) via
email to:sfs05 at ohioramp.com
