What's Happening at the Canton Palace Theatre

Thursday, May 9

Pro-Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queens Pageant

The Pro Football Hall of Fame presents the annual Queens pageant as part
of the Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival.  Young women ages 18 to 23
from Stark County and surrounding communities will compete for the title
of Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen. Also selected
will be Court members to match the number of Enshrinees in the 2013
Class. The Queen and Court will serve as goodwill ambassadors and role
models in the community while volunteering their time for many civic

Hollywood Hit Movie: "Oz: The Great and Powerful"

Synopsis: When Oscar Diggs, a small-time circus magician with dubious
ethics, is hurled from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks
that fame and fortune are his for the taking, that is until he meets
three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is
the great wizard everyone has been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the
enormous problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must
find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his
magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity, and even a bit of
wizardry, Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful
Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well.

Synopsis: Donna, an independent, single mother who owns a small hotel on
an idyllic Greek island, is about to let go of Sophie, the spirited
daughter she's raised alone. For Sophie's wedding, Donna has invited her
two lifelong best girlfriends--practical and no-nonsense Rosie and
wealthy, multi-divorcee Tonya--from her one-time backing band, Donna and
the Dynamos. But Sophie has secretly invited three guests of her own. On
a quest to find the identity of her father to walk her down the aisle,
she brings back three men from Donna's past to the Mediterranean
paradise they visited 20 years earlier. Over 24 chaotic, magical hours,
new love will bloom and old romances will be rekindled on this lush
island full of possibilities.
