Video in Live Performance Workshop - the beginner's crash course in ArKoas and MagicQ

Video in Live Performance will introduce workshop participants to video technology and its applications in live performance. Led by Cleveland Public Theatre's 2012/2013 resident Video Designers, Carly Garinger and Renee Schilling, who spearheaded video design for critically acclaimed, Water Ways<http://www.cptonline.org/theater-show.php?id=201>, Video In Live Performance will explore the fundamental functions and basic operating of the ArKaos and MagicQ systems as we illuminate the unique challenges and opportunities presented when bringing filmed material and still images into live theatre productions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE JUNE 15th!

WORKSHOP TOPICS INCLUDE:

*         An overview and hands on introduction to the ArKaos and MagicQ systems.

o    Participants will learn to scale/warp/mask/position up to 8 layers of still images, video or live feed and use the system to create a custom cue list for a test project

*         A basic introduction to Projectors for theatrical use including set-up and practices.

o    Discussion on the use of multiple projectors and live feed cameras

*         Discussion about the dramaturgical challenges of video

*         Discussion of the various video manipulation and playback software available for theatrical use, including a basic explanation of how they work and their pros and cons relative to system standards.
