*THE STORY:* As the great director of Michael Fryan’s *Noises Off*, Lloyd
Dallas has said "it is all about doors and sardines and sardines and
doors…”
Originally written in 1962, *Boeing Boeing* is a classic French farce,
that had long runs in both London and New York and was gloriously revived
on Broadway in 2008 where it won two Tony Awards including Best Revival of
a play.
It’s the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard couldn't be happier: a flat
in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses all engaged to him without knowing
about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend
Robert comes to stay and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of
his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town
simultaneously, timid Robert is forgetting which lies to tell to whom, and
catastrophe looms.
Each role features a great character and a wonderfully written
role. Indeed, each of the female roles (three stewardesses and a
housekeeper are nuanced and fully three dimensional). Really.
*Auditions:** *
*Sunday, June 23, 2013 1:00pm till 2:30pm *
*Monday, June 24, 2012 7:00pm till 8:30pm*
All auditions will be held at Lakeland Community College’s Performing Arts
Center (PAC). *Sorry, additional Equity contracts for this production*. No
need to prepare a monologue. I will have you read directly from the
script. Additional auditions and callbacks only as necessary; *ALL ROLES
ARE COMPENSATED*.

*Production and Rehearsal dates:*
*Boeing Boeing* *will open on Friday, September 20 and run through October
6, 2013--Friday through Sunday. Of course you will be compensated for all
performances. **Rehearsals will begin sometime in early to mid
August.Don't worry, we will work around vacation schedules. In regards
to
rehearsals, you will not be called for rehearsal unless needed as this play
is easily broken down into two-character scenes. *

*EACH CHARACTER IS WONDERFUL AND COMPELLINGLY DRAWN. SURELY EACH OF THESE
ROLES WILL BE CHALLENGING AND FUN TO PLAY. A VERY THEATRICAL PIECE. *

*The Roles:*
*Bernard**:* This role will be played by Jeffery Grover. An American
business man, between 45 to 50 years old, and who has never been married
and is now enjoying his life in Paris.
*Gloria**:* The American fiancee. Does indeed have a New York accent. Is
probably between the ages of 25 and 40 years. Take charge, health obsessed.
*Robert**:* Robert’s old American buddy from University who drops by from
Wisconsin. Should be between the ages of 35 and 50 years old.
*Berthe: *Bernard’s female Parisian housekeeper. She was played by
Christine Baranski on Broadway and is by far the smartest person on stage.
Between the ages of 35 and 60. Is on stage quite a bit.
*Gabriella:* The French or Italian fiancée (depending on which accent is
better). Is probably between the ages of 25 and 40 years. She is
sentimental and lusty.
*Gretchen:* The German fiancee. Is probably between the ages of 25 and 40
years of age. Dominating but thin-skinned.
The aforementioned roles are great and demand great actors!

*''This latest edition of a play named for an aircraft soars right out of
its time zone and into some unpolluted stratosphere of classic physical
comedy. Propelled by the same gutsy spirit that animated Commedia dell'Arte
and the silent films of Keaton, Chaplin and Lloyd, {this} may be earthy,
but it's seldom earthbound.” *
