Summer time is finally on its way.  Shouldn’t you celebrate with something for yourself? Why should the kids get all the fun? Why not meet new people, flex your creative muscles and have a blast at the same time?  We all need an outlet … find yours at Beck Center!

Not sure if improve is for you? We have “drop in” prices available so you can stop in and test the class out first.  Or if you don’t have time to do all five weeks in a session, but still want to play, this is another great way to come participate and only pay for the time you are actually there!

Adult Improv: The Basics

Ages:  18 and up



An exploration of the basic tools and techniques used in Improvisational theater. This class is perfect for both the beginner as well as the experienced. Sessions will focus on the skills used to create an improvised scene and will help develop the student's ability to create, develop and sustain stories. Students may sign up for all five sessions at $75 or join for a single session at $20 each. Single session tickets are available at Customer Services prior to class.

Led by Something Dada Improvisational Troupe's Aaron Patterson, actors explore improv games and team competition while honing their basic improvisational skills. The class will conclude in its own mini-Olympics style contest on the last day. Students may sign up for all five sessions at $75 or join for a single session at $20 each. This course is designed for both the adult beginner who wants an introduction to the fundamental tools of acting as well as the experienced adult actor who seeks to stretch and review. Under the guidance of one of Northeast Ohio's premier professional actors, students will explore and develop the fundamental tools needed to create full, honest and compelling characters. Audition experience will also be addressed.



Shakespeare In Your Pocket

Ages:  18 and up

Master short Shakespeare pieces for audition, competition or pleasure – learn to act these great characters and great moments. You will be working on performing Shakespeare by learning the text of short character monologues. No longer than 25-35 lines, these character pieces will teach you all the major tools you need to take on any Shakespeare text.
