Performances: September 20-21
Rehearsals: To be Determined
Please prepare a one minute monologue tailored to one of the following roles:
Meet Tony. He is a Mafia Enforcer who has always wanted to be a
Broadway Star. He’s a New York Italian from Brooklyn who is an overall
good guy anti-hero type, but has a bad streak. He is open to saving
damsels in distress, but much prefers strong women. He is physically
imposing, but moderately good looking. He has a troubled past, but has a
positive outlook on life which carries over into when he breaks into
song at random times.
Meet Mason. He is a Broadway Actor born
and raised in Boston with aspirations of being a Mafia Boss. He is
moderately good looking, but not imposing. He is a strong singer who has
lived a sheltered life, but with delusions of grandeur and a high
opinion of himself.
Meet Louise. She is a New York Italian. She
is a physician’s assistant and has a no nonsense way of looking at
life. She has a heart of gold, but walls of stone to protect it. She is
physically attractive. She is not a damsel in distress. She has a jaded
past, but a hopeful outlook.
Meet Don. He’s a New York Italian.
He sometimes rolls his Rs in remembrance of his roots in the “Old
Country.” He is motivated by money and respect. He is eloquently vulgar.
Meet Benny. He's a New York Italian weasel out for his own good. He is street smart and loyal to his friends.
Meet Steve. He's a New York Jewish Broadway Director on his last leg
when it comes to Broadway. The critics say if his play ‘Gluteus’ is a
flop, he will never work in major show biz again. He's self-serving when
it comes to theatre and life.
Meet Pat. Pat is Steve’s
underling. Pat’s intentions are good, but her situation frustrates her.
Pat is an aspiring writer, director, and a former Scientologist who may
or may not be from New York. Pat may be played by a male or female.
Meet Andrea. She’s an actress with a high society accent. She is
not be from New York. She will do anything to get ahead. She sees
herself as the quintessential sexy. She is jealous. She switches her
loyalties when it suits her. She will act like a damsel in distress.
Meet Smokey. He is an Vietnam War Army buddy of Don. He and Benny have a special
bond facilitated by Don’s hatred for them both. He possesses a stoner’s
wisdom.
Meet Becker. Becker is a tough as nails Veteran
Detective who has been trying to bust Don for years. Becker speaks with a
non-descript New York accent. Becker can be played by a male or a
female.
Extras needed:
Two people to play Don’s Thugs;
At least two extras to play police officers, random passersby and extras for the play within a play.
