Kent State University at Stark announces the 2013-14 theatre season



Kent State University at Stark has announced the scheduled theatre performances for the 2013-14 academic year. The upcoming productions will be performed at the Kent State Stark Fine Arts Theatre, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township.

Tickets may be conveniently purchased online by visiting www.stark.kent.edu/theatre<http://www.stark.kent.edu/theatre>. Theatre patrons may also obtain reservations and ticket orders through the Fine Arts Theatre Box Office by calling 330-244-3348, Monday through Friday, 1-5 p.m. The opening night of each theatre production is Scholarship Night. Proceeds from those performances will benefit students in the Kent State Stark theatre and music programs.



The Maiden's Prayer

November 3 and 10, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. (American Sign Language interpretation will be provided at the November 10 performance.)
Ticket Prices: $10 adults; $7 students under 17 and senior citizens; KSU students free with current ID
Tickets will be available online and at the Fine Arts Theatre Box Office, beginning on October 21.



In Nicky Silver's dramatic comedy, unrequited love threatens the marriage of golden couple Taylor and Cynthia. As his best friend and sister-in-law secretly pine after Taylor, each of their lives endures major changes, resulting from the choices they make. A tragedy tests the family loyalty of Cynthia's sister, while Taylor's best friend takes advantage of the opportunity as a means to fulfill his long-hidden desires. For mature audiences only, due to sexual content and strong language.



Cat's-Paw

This intense thriller examines the motives of an eco-terrorist through media reporting. Obsessed with the pollution of the world's water supply, the mastermind behind deadly attacks on the EPA and the White House takes a hostage and grants a young journalist the interview of a lifetime. While justifying his actions on camera, a taut game of cat and mouse ensues, leading to a shocking and surprising conclusion. For mature audiences only, due to violent content and strong language.

Meanwhile, a TV addict with an unhealthy obsession for her teeters on the edge as tensions in his house rise and explode into a drama that holds the nation riveted. Filled with comedic satire, Our House examines a culture that is fascinated with transforming sobering crisis into sexy entertainment. Directing Kent State Stark's theatrical productions is Assistant Professor of Theatre and Theatre Director Brian Newberg. Louis Williams is the scenic and lighting designer, Susan Blurton is the costume designer and Ron Jarvis is the sound designer.
