The Cleveland Museum of Art’s performing arts, music and film department seeks applicants for its Department Assistant position.  The Department Assistant provides administrative and production support to the department in the execution of successful performing arts series and film programming.  Typical duties include routine administrative tasks including composing and preparing correspondence for signature(s), maintaining supervisor’s calendar, coordinating departmental travel logistics, maintaining departmental files and records; assisting with the development of the annual CMA Performing Arts brochure; provides support with planning, preparing, coordinating, and implementing all technical and production operations related to artists’ tech rider for CMA Performing Arts Series; assists with load-in/out of performing artists’ equipment and assists with coordinating stage and house crew; and maintains/edits databases for concert and mailing lists.

Qualified applicants will have Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Liberal Arts or equivalent with experience in multiple technical fields and one to three years of administrative experience required.  Related training in the area of event management or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.  Candidates should possess good administrative, organizational, research, computer, interpersonal, and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize work projects and work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Previous experience with word-processing software, accounting spreadsheet software, computer-database management as well as basic office equipment required. Knowledge of ETC lighting consoles and Yamaha M7 Sound console helpful. A valid driver license is required.  Applicants must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and be able work at high elevations on a ladder.  Applicants must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
