Assistant Professor – Lighting Design

Responsibilities: The Theatre Area of the School of Theatre, Television, and Film is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach lighting design and technology. Primary duties will include team-teaching the MFA graduate design studio (Collaborative Studies) as well as lighting design and technology courses – a total of 3-4 courses per semester. Other teaching may include courses in sound design and technology, software, projection design and technology, automated lighting, and lighting for television and film. Other responsibilities include supervising student lighting and sound designers on departmental productions; recruiting and promoting the design program on local and national levels; collaboration with colleagues in Television, Film, Dance, and Music. The candidate will mentor a small group of MFA lighting students within a three-year terminal degree program. It is expected that the successful candidate will demonstrate significant creative activity and/or scholarship and provide service to the university and professional community.
 
Qualifications: M.F.A. degree required. Candidate’s primary interest must be in lighting design for live production. All candidates must have two years of university-level teaching experience and/or a minimum of five years of professional lighting design experience. The successful candidate will present one or more of the following: graduate-level teaching experience; interest and experience in teaching lighting for film and television, sound design and technology, and/or projection design and technology; USA professional membership or equivalent. Applicants with experience in and/or commitment to working in a multicultural environment with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles are preferred. 
Rank & Salary: Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track. Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
