Projection Design for Theatre Workshop, a beginner's crash course in Isadora

Projection Design for Theatre will introduce participants to Isadora, a robust media presentation application used in professional theatre, dance, and installations. Aimed at beginners, the workshop will offer hands-on instruction in using the software, from the basics of multi-screen playback, to cueing for theatrical performance and integrating the real-time control and effects of this powerful design tool. The workshop will be led by Mike Tutaj, an award-winning projection designer and adjunct professor for the theatre department of Columbia College Chicago.

Participants will be asked to bring their own laptops. For system requirements please refer to the software maker's website:  http://troikatronix.com/download/isadora-pre-releases/ Registrants will be sent a download link including sample media and demo version of the software to be installed prior to the workshop.

Mike Tutaj is a professional projection designer and sound designer based in Chicago.  His designs have been seen and heard on the stages of The Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, The Court Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, The Second City, TimeLine Theatre and many more. Off-Broadway and Regional credits include The York Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company, City Theatre Company, Madison Repertory Theatre Company, and Theatre Squared. He has received 3 Joseph Jefferson Awards for this projection designs and he is the recipient of the Michael Maggio Emerging Designer Award. Mike is an adjunct professor for the Theatre Department of Columbia College Chicago and currently teaching a Special Topics course in Projection Design. He is a member of United Scenic Artists local 829 as a Projection Designer.
