RED Company real.edge.dance, now in its third season, will present its annual concert series that will delight all audiences. RED is Akron's only residing professional modern dance company.  Led by Founder and Artistic Director, Kelli Sanford, RED has a style of dance that blends the artistry of modern, ballet, and jazz dance into its dance works. RED produces an exciting and entertaining style of dance that inspires, and ignites interest and excitement in modern dance within its viewers. 

RED will hold its annual concert series "Dance Emergence" October 25-27th 2013 at Daum Theater on the University of Akron main campus in Akron, Ohio. RED will be premiering three dance works. Included on the program will be the premiere of "SKINS", an intense psychological and emotional social commentary based on the struggles that women encounter with body image and the pressures of society's definition of the perfect female body type with an original score by Jonathan Monacelli and Daryl Belcher. "RITE OF THE DEITY", a high energy, dynamic group work based on the theme of ancient idol worshipping of a "chosen one" set to exciting Turkish percussion music , and the new dance work "ANGELS", a beautiful modern-ballet work that is inspired by the concept and belief of guardian angels with an original score by Jonathan Monacelli and Daryl Belcher. In addition to the three premieres, RED is performing the popular dance work from last season "DUI dancing.under.influence", a modern-hip-hop style group work that serves as a statement of how easily society can influence people to be followers instead of leaders with original music by Alex Cooke, and the beautiful imagistic dance work based on the life cycle of the butterfly, "MONARCH." 

In addition to the concert series this year, RED has expanded its mission of creating training and performance opportunity to talented, dedicated, young dancers in the area by inviting the Ana Lobe Ballet Academy to perform a new dance work. RED wants to give young dancers who are pursing a performance career in dance and opportunity to gain professional performance experience no matter what genre of dance. 

Tickets are $15 general admission and $12 Seniors/Students. Reservations can be made by contacting ksanford at RealEdgeDance.org or can be purchased at the door.  The Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8:13pm and the Sunday matinee begins at 3:13 pm. There will also be live music entertainment at all intermission by RED's music artists.
