Just two days until the sparkling launch of the Shaker Arts Council’s 2013-14 AHa! (At Home with
the Arts) season takes place at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, with Menges & Woda's “Serate Musicali”!
Cleveland-area artists Diane Menges, soprano, and Jennifer Woda, mezzo soprano, will perform this delightful
program of vocal selections from the classical Italian repertoire, opening the annual AHa! performance series in the gracious
surroundings of a beautiful Shaker Heights home.
The evening will
feature songs, arias and duets from works by favorite composers, including
excerpts from Mozart’s “Le Nozze di Figaro,” beloved arias of Puccini, ariettas
and duets by Donaudy, and finally, canzonettas and duets from Rossini’s“Soirées Musicales.” “Serate Musicali”
will be presented in a memorable setting: a handsome Shaker Heights home whose
address will be provided to ticket buyers.
AHa! performances have a special quality that makes them
unique experiences for audiences, said Shaker Arts Council President Leslye
Arian  “There's an interaction between
the artist and the audience that's different from the club experience or a venue
like a bar,” she said. “It's more intimate.”
Events on the AHa!
series begin at 7 p.m. with a reception, featuring fine food and drink that are
included in the ticket price; the performance follows at 7:40 p.m. The Shaker
Heights address of the Oct. 11 performance venue will be provided to
ticket-buyers.
Tickets for the Oct.
11 AHa! reception and performance are $30. Subscriptions for the entire 2012-13
AHa! series of four events are $90 and include the Oct. 11 “Serate Musicali”
program as well as the literary drama of WordStage (Jan. 24), pop and Americana
guitar performances by Victor Samalot and Bruce Jennings (April 25), and  an al
fresco concert by noted Cleveland contemporary troupe MorrisonDance (July
18). To purchase "Serate Musicali" tickets or subscription packages, go to www.shakerartscouncil.org; call
