Theater Ninjas leap into the air and kick off their first touring show with the world premiere of Erin Courtney's Black Cat Lost!

The Ninjas need your help in a ritual of rememberance. Sliding between the philosophical and the personal, the intimate Black Cat Lost uses poetic movement and sound to meditate on the beauty of our impermanent relationships with the world and each other. Erin Courtney’s dynamic text draws on zen poetry, silent film imagery, fiction and memoirs to invoke individual and universal themes. Characters and stories appear and disappear with ease, creating a sincere, funny, and surprising kaleidoscope of life, death and the unseen.

But where do you come in? Audiences will be invited to participate in games inspired by ritual that deepen the experience of the show. Each unique performance of Black Cat Lost will be shaped by the audience’s own memories, thoughts and voices.

Each performance will be accompanied by The Refrain, a surprising devised musical interlude previously seen at A-Ten-Tion Span (2011).
Select West-Side performances will also provide a sneak peek into the Ninjas' upcoming original caberet feature: Tingle-Tangle. This up-close piece examines queer identity, hate speech, oppression and love; in tune with songs inspired by Weimar Berlin.
