LCCC Students and Local Actors in "The Fantasticks" at LCCC

Lorain County Community College students and other local actors will
take the stage in the LCCC Theatre department production of the world's
longest running musical, "The Fantasticks." 

The production will be presented at 8 p.m., Thursday, November
21-Saturday, November 23 and at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 24 in the
Studio Theatre of Stocker Arts Center on the LCCC campus. The play is
directed by Dave Cotton.

Tickets are $8 for adults; $7 for LCCC students with a valid ID,
children 12 and under, LCCC faculty/staff and seniors 65 and older.

(440) 366-4040. Tickets are also available at the box office 90 minutes
before show time.

"The Fantasticks" is a funny and romantic musical about a boy, a girl,
two fathers and a wall. The narrator, El Gallo, played by Alex Craig of
Elyria, asks the audience to use their imagination and follow him into a
world of moonlight and magic. The boy and the girl fall in love, grow
apart, and finally find their way back to each other after realizing the
truth in El Gallo's words that "without a hurt, the heart is hollow". At
the heart of it all is breathtaking poetry and subtle theatrical
sophistication with a purity and simplicity that transcends cultural
barriers. The result is a timeless fable of love that manages to be
nostalgic and universal at the same time.

The play has been running in New York since 1960 and continues to be
performed around the world. The production includes music by Harvey
Schmidt and lyrics by Tom Jones.
