- *PANIC! Auditioning and Interviewing for University Theatre Programs
with Associate Professor Fabio Polanco: * So you want to major or minor
in Theatre and the school wants you to prepare an audition or interview.
Yikes! What do you do? What do you prepare? What do you need? How do you
present yourself in the best light so that you can communicate your
potential to the schools that interest you? How do you deal with nerves?
In this workshop we will discuss and explore what makes a great audition
and interview, what materials you need to be collecting and preparing and
how to present them, how to craft a professional theatrical resume and what
questions to ask THEM. If you have a monologue or song you have been
working on, bring it and have it professionally critiqued.
- *Act Before You Think: The Values of A First Rate Actor with Assistant
Professor Scott Hudson: * Maybe your parents taught you to think before
you act? Now, let’s act before we think!* *Explore the inspiring values
of a first rate actor that give the beginning thespian a solid base from
which to grow and develop his or her talent. These values will come
alive through the experience of group exercises and simple scene work.
*DESIGN WORKSHOPS*
- *The Art of Theatre Offstage with Assistant Professor Jason Coale:* The
creation of theatre requires many talented artists onstage and off.
Whether it is the set, the costumes, the lights, the publicity poster or
even the table displays for a fundraising gala, you'll always find an
artist *behind* the scenes working hard to make things look great. This
workshop will address the process involved in the creation of some of these
elements. We will explore several techniques used to create, plan,
communicate and execute exciting design ideas.
- *Create Your Face: Character Design and Stage Makeup with Assistant
Professor Sarah Russell:* Rehearsals are moving along and your costume
rocks! Now it's time to start thinking about how your character’s makeup
should look, but where do you begin?! In this workshop, students will learn
to make smart design choices while developing makeup for their character.
Participants will learn to ask the right questions about their character,
build off of solid research, make savvy makeup choices and learn to create
a makeup schematic with reference photos for applying their makeup the
right way, every time!
Register for the event by *November 1 *at* www.ashland.edu/theatre*.
