The Akron School for the Arts will present the culmination of their *24-Hour
Theatre Project* at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, in Firestone
High School’s Linda B. Kersker Auditorium. All tickets are general
admission and cost just $5.00. Tickets will be available at the door
starting at 7:00 p.m. No advanced tickets will be available. Firestone
High School is located at 333 Rampart Avenue, Akron.

The *24-Hour Theatre Project *is a creative concept in which students
undertake the entire theatrical creative expression in a single 24-hour
period. Students will meet at 8:00 p.m. on Friday and begin the process by
casting plays that have not yet been written. Each writing team is
presented with a prompt and conceptualizes and writes a play under the
guidance of a writing mentor. When the actors return early the next day,
the plays will have been written by student writers and will ready to
rehearse. The morning and afternoon are spent staging, memorizing,
rehearsing, and preparing all the technical elements. Theatre students
create under the watchful eye and guidance of the Firestone Theatre staff.

Members of the Akron School for the arts visual art department will
undertake a similar project at the same time. Art students will work
collaboratively in various artistic media to develop work with themes
similar to those in the theatre project. Art students will complete their
work for display before and after the presentation of the theatre project.
These students will work under the guidance of the school’s art faculty.

The *24-Hour Theatre Project* is part of Firestone Theatre’s “SHOWvember”
in which three student productions are presented within 3 weeks. Other
performances included in “SHOWvember” include *Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr. * at
the Akron Civic Theatre on Sunday, November 10, 2013, and the musical *
Dreamgirls* to be presented 5 times at the school starting Wednesday,
November 20, 2013. Additional information for each of these shows can be
found online at FirestoneTheatre.com.

The Akron School for the Arts is a nationally recognized visual and
performing arts institution of the Akron Public Schools. Firestone Theatre
was selected in 1993 as an “Outstanding School” by the Educational Theatre
Association. It is located on the campus of Firestone High School at 333
