closes on Sunday, June 29th. Performances are Fri/Sat nights and Sun afternoons only.

AEA Contracts: It is anticipated that 2 contracts will be available (possibly 3) for this
production. These will be Special Appearance contracts (no health/no weeks). Non AEA
performers are paid a stipend for their participation as well.

About The Play:

Four aspiring young novelists sign up for private writing classes with Leonard, a one-time acclaimed literary figure who now earns much of his living through giving highly expensive seminars. (this course costs $5,000.00 per student). His teaching is brutal and demanding and the weaknesses, desperation and desires of his students become apparent as they strive to improve their writing skills. A darkly funny play.

Roles: {see below}

LEONARD: Leading the seminar, a cynical genius who believes that honesty is the best policy when trying to teach. Writers can only get better by having their flaws displayed and acted upon. Late 40’s to mid-fifties. {Role originated by Alan Rickman}

IZZY- The least talented of the writers, yet one not afraid to use her sexuality to define herself. 20’s. Ideally Asian Amercan.

MARTIN- Comes from a more blue-collar background and is frustrated with his lack of success with his writing and life and general. A little less polished and emotional than the others. 20’s.

DOUGLAS- Comes from privilege and is the nephew of a famous writer. Yet despite his bravado, he has doubts about his own abilities. 20’s

KATE- A child of privilege, she tries to hide it in order to better fit in. Driven yet deeply insecure. 20’s

Actors of all ethnicities are encouraged to audition for these roles!
