Kent State University at Stark Theatre announces open auditions for Cat’s-Paw

Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for Cat’s-Paw, the suspenseful theatrical production by William Mastrosimone. Auditions are open to everyone, including students and community persons.

This intense thriller examines the motives of an eco-terrorist through media reporting. Obsessed with the pollution of the world’s water supply, the mastermind behind deadly attacks on the EPA and the White House takes a hostage and grants a young journalist the interview of a lifetime. While justifying his actions on camera, a taut game of cat and mouse ensues, leading to a shocking and surprising conclusion. For mature audiences only, due to violent content and strong language.

Auditions will be held on November 19 and 21 at 7 p.m. in the theatre of the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. If necessary, callbacks may be held on November 22.

Roles are available for two men and two women. Those auditioning have the choice of working from sides (selected scene excerpts) or they may perform a prepared monologue. The director may also choose sides for people. For specific role information, visit www.stark.kent.edu/theatre<http://www.stark.kent.edu/theatre> and click on Audition Information for All Shows in the right-hand column.

The production will be performed from February 14 – 23, 2014 in the Kent State Stark Theatre. Rehearsals commence on January 5, and will take place five evenings a week until opening.

Scripts (and audition sides or scene excerpts used for the auditions) are available for perusal for periods up to 24 hours from the secretary (330-244-5151) of the Fine Arts Building, Monday through Friday, during business hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Audition appointments are recommended, but not required. Scripts and audition sides will also be available in the reserve area of the Stark Campus Library.
