Kent State University at Stark Theatre announces open auditions for Our House

Kent State University at Stark Theatre has announced open auditions for Our House, the theatrical thriller by Theresa Rebeck. Auditions are open to everyone, including students and community persons.

An arrogant television executive faced with dwindling ratings hires America's favorite news anchor to host a popular reality show. Meanwhile, a TV addict with an unhealthy obsession for her teeters on the edge as tensions in his house rise and explode into a drama that holds the nation riveted. Filled with comedic satire, Our House examines a culture that is fascinated with transforming sobering crisis into sexy entertainment. For mature audiences only, due to violent content and strong language.

Auditions will be held on January 27 and 28 at 6 p.m. in the theatre of the Fine Arts Building, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. If necessary, callbacks may be held on January 29.

Roles are available for four men and three women. Those auditioning have the choice of working from sides (selected scene excerpts) or they may perform a prepared monologue. The director may also choose sides for people. For specific role information, visit www.stark.kent.edu/theatre<http://www.stark.kent.edu/theatre> and click on Audition Information for All Shows in the right-hand column.

The production will be performed from April 4 - 13, 2014 in the Kent State Stark Theatre. Rehearsals commence on February 17, and will take place five evenings a week until opening.

Scripts (and audition sides or scene excerpts used for the auditions) are available for perusal for periods up to 24 hours from the secretary (330-244-5151) of the Fine Arts Building, Monday through Friday, during business hours (8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). Audition appointments are recommended, but not required. Scripts and audition sides will also be available in the reserve area of the Stark Campus Library.

Technical production opportunities are also available, such as stage and assistant stage managers, assistants to lighting, scenic, sound and costume designers. For more information about these openings, contact Theatre Specialist Louis Williams at 330-244-3375.
