Our Winter/Spring 2014 semester at Beck Center for the Arts begins on Monday, January 27, including three fantastic classes designed specifically for ADULTS!  From Acting and Improv through Stage Combat and Dance for Musical Theater - each class is led by theater professionals and a great opportunity to further your training or to get your feet wet for the first time. Acting Basics: Adults Classical and contemporary techniques are explored in polishing craft along with keys to unlocking scripts and bringing them from the page to the stage. Actors of all experiences welcomed. Audition pieces conquered.

Adult Improvisation: Improv Games Led by Something Dada Improvisational Troupe's Aaron Patterson, actors explore improv games and team competition while honing their basic improvisational skills. Five weeks only!

Dance for Musical Theater: Adults This class is for adults who are interested in or who are already performing in the professional world or in community theater for fun! Students work on proper dance technique, alignment and terminology, as well as explore different dance styles that are popular in the musical theater world today. By the end, students learn a dance combination from a show.

Stage Combat: Adults Students learn the fun and important skill of stage combat: safely simulating violence onstage. This class covers how to perform basic unarmed techniques such as punches, slaps, falls, and kicks incorporating them into scene work. An exciting and energetic class for both the beginning and more experienced actor.

Private Coaching The associate director of Theater Education will be offering private coaching sessions for ages 13 and up. These scheduled work times are intended for the serious theater student in which to prepare materials for auditions and college applications. To schedule a time, contact the associate director at 216.521.2540 x27. Fee: $25 for a 30-minute session. Accompanist available for an additional fee: $30 for a 30-minute session.
