Amazing Ways You Can Instantly Kick Winter Doldrums

Ugh! Winter is like your distant annoying relative, who comes to visit and
won’t leave. Here are tips to help you ignore your relative and snub winter
for a bit.

1. Go to a Caribbean Beach
in your living room. That’s right. Just grab all
you lamps and turn them on. Up the thermostat. Slip into your swimsuit.
Lather yourself in coconut body lotion. Make a Pina Colada. Put on that
ocean surf CD. Then lay down on your beach blanket, close your eyes behind
your Ray Bans, and daydream of white sands and blue water for an hour or so.


2. Go hang with trees and grass. Yeah, go to the Cleveland Museum of Art’s
new atrium and take a small pad of paper and a pencil. Hang around the
little forest of trees with the blue sky above, all without layers of coats,
hats and gloves. Then lie on your back on the grass. Feel the soft blades
and smell the vegetation and the sweet soil. When the guards come to tell
you to get off, act ignorant and pull out your pad and pencil and write,
“Hello, my name is Sammy. This place is amazing! I love it here.” They’ll
think you’re handicapped and talk slowly and loudly telling you that the
grass is a sculpture and is not to be laid on. Nod and smile back knowing
that you just got a major springtime fix.

3. Go see live music. It just so happens Vanity Crash and Balloon Knot are
playing this Friday, February 7th at the Five O’clock Lounge. Both bands
will be generating some pulsing sound waves that will undulate you body and
those around you resulting in a nice warm rise in temperature. You will find
yourself smiling, and maybe even dancing, shaking off this winter’s weight.
Ahhh! Almost feels like summer.
