Our theme, “Healthy Choices. Healthy Lives – A Roadmap to Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) Change in Asian American/Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA/NHPI) Communities of Greater Cleveland,” will illustrate the impact culturally catered PSE initiatives can make to increase healthy eating/active living within hard to reach communities of Greater Cleveland.

RAISE, a multi-sector coalition, brings together local stakeholders within Greater Cleveland to tackle obesity and chronic disease by working “upstream” to increase physical activity and improve nutrition in AA/NHPI communities. There has been growing body of evidence to suggest that the rate of preventable chronic disease among AA/NHPIs will match that of mainstream Americans with greater length of acculturation. The seven-county Greater Cleveland metropolitan area is comprised of over 60,000 AA/NHPIs. Based on data and analysis conducted in other parts of the country, over 4,500 AA/NHPIs in the RAISE jurisdiction are currently living with diabetes.

Please join RAISE as we demonstrate how PSE can easily be adopted into your current practices and how you can implement these strategies in any hard to reach population. We look forward to having you join us.
