Blues harmonica player Wallace Coleman to perform at Kent State University at Stark

Kent State University at Stark proudly presents a performance by Northeastern Ohio blues legend, Wallace Coleman on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. in the Main Hall Auditorium, 6000 Frank Avenue NW in Jackson Township. This event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required. This event is sponsored by the Kent State Stark Black History Month Committee.

The audience will also be treated to a performance by Jody Getz & Friends, who will open for the Wallace Coleman Band's Electric Blues concert.

Wallace Coleman, a 10-year veteran of the Grammy Award-winning Robert Lockwood Jr. Band, started his own band in 1996. He later established his own record label, Ella Mae Music, named in honor of his late mother. Coleman has released four, critically acclaimed CDs on his label, including his latest release, Blues In The Wind, Remembering Robert Jr. Lockwood. He has won a Living Blues Award for fan favorite, garnered two nominations for outstanding harmonica and has been named an Ohio Heritage Fellow. Coleman's performance embodies an American art form that has all but disappeared from the African-American music landscape and is certain to captivate blues lovers of all ages.
