*Synopsis: *

"Dark Awakening" is a short film that follows Rachel, a young woman who
becomes the latest  in an increasing amount of individuals to have their
"third eye" spontaneously open. Plagued by visions and other supernatural
phenomenon.  She finds herself increasingly ostracized from the life she
knew before, while facing the threat of persecution from authorities who
have labeled individuals who exhibit these symptoms part of a terror
network.  Rachel finds an unlikely ally in Tamara, a woman who she
previously thought to be insane.  Tamara urges Rachel to strike out on her
own and seek the truth.  But after life of conformity does Rachel have the
courage seek the answers about herself, and mankind's forgotten past?

[RACHEL]  [GENDER: FEMALE]  [AGE 20-25]

Despite her edgy, slightly punk rock exterior Rachel is a conformist at
heart. Though there was time when she explored the nature human existence
through poetry, she long since tucked that side of herself  away.  But as
old feelings and questions begin to arise, she hopes to find the courage to
seek their answers.

[LIZ]  [GENDER: FEMALE]  [AGE 22-27]

Liz is Rachel's best friend, and  a quintessential materialist.  What she
lacks in book smarts she makes up for with bravado. She's quick to offer
her opinion, and with a little fast talking, and a lot of attitude can
usually sway others to her side.

[TAMARA] [GENDER: FEMALE]  [AGE 45-60]

Tamara frequents the restaurant that Rachel works in.  Due to Tamara's
questionable style of dress and wild eyes, many, including Rachel have
pegged her as insane. However, beneath the quirky exterior lies a fierce
power and intelligence.  Her drive is to find those like Rachel who begin
to see behind the veil, and help them embark on the journey that will guide
them towards the truth.
